Soccer Mom
Yes I am going to be a soccer mom but today I found out I am also going to be a soccer coach. They have been unable to find a coach for Ben's team. After the 3rd request I finally agreed to do it so Ben could play. What we won't do for our kids. Since I have never coached soccer or had a child play soccer it should be interesting. But I am told that all I need to teach them is which way to kick the ball towards the goal and how to do a throw in. That should be the easy part the hard part will be keeping 7 5-years focus on playing the game.

Don't forget snacks. My kids' teams usually had oranges at half-time and juice boxes and granola bars after. You should assign one of the parents who didn't step up to coach to be the snack coordinator. Five is a good age for soccer - most kids are really competitive yet, but they can understand which goal is theirs.
Ha Ha Ha. Good luck with that. I don't envy you at all.
You're so awesome! We just came back from our first soccer practice and it was the funniest watching the kids kick the ball the wrong way. The coach had a sign up sheet for the parents for after game treats so no biggie there. Our coach is only going to do one more practice before the season starts and the rest of practice will be on the field on game day. Yipeeee! Simple and easy is the best for me.
Glad it's you and not me!
Go Valerie!
So the first soccer coach we had last fall kept trying to get the kids to do drills and stuff, and keep it orderly, and he got frustrated. Our second coach this spring just had fun kicking the ball with the kids, and they loved it. All the drilling he really did is to have them line up and kick goals one at a time, starting with the ball in place, and then with the ball moving toward them. You'll do great!
good for you. We had a first soccer practice and I signed Cory up to be an assistant. Since I have no idea how to play soccer. Good thing our coach told us he had played professionally. Definitely trumps what I know about soccer.
I think you will make a great coach! If not I have been told that age is extremely easy. The only thing that matters are the treats. Let me know how it goes because Jared was asked to coach Kasen's team this year also. Good Luck!! I love looking at your blog and hope you don't mind that I added you to mine.
