My husband has been giving me a hard time because I have not blogged for a while. So here are some things that are going on in my life.
1. Potty Training. What more can I say. This is never a pleasant task. I always hope I will have one of those children where I show them how and they never have an accident. Unfortunately this is not the case with Jake. In three weeks we have come a long ways but we are not there yet. He is really good if I just have him go every 2 hours. He is not so good at realizing he needs to go and going in the bathroom or telling me. If he tells me he has to go potty it is because he has already gone. Sometimes I think I should put him back in diapers but then I worry I will have to go through the past three weeks all over again.
2. Dinner Swap. This has been amazing. I was lucky to team up with three great cooks. So I make dinner on Mondays and then for the next three days I go and pick up this nicely prepared dinner. So far all of the meals have been fabulous. And dishes are so easy since I don't have a cooking mess.
3. Yard Work. I am finally getting out for some much needed yard work. Unfortunately I had this weed vine that kill two of my bushes. So I have ripped those out and I am planting another bush and some flowering perennials. I love planting and going to the nursery but I hate pulling weeds. Also I am not very good at coordinating plants. One of these days I will figure out my yard.
4. Fall. My absolute favorite time of year. I am so excited it is cooling down this weekend. 80 degree weather is not on the list of why I love fall.
5. Decorations. My kids have been so excited to decorate for Halloween. Ben saw that the neighbor had put spiderweb all around the front of her house. One day while leaving for school he saw her outside. He ran over and asked her where she got it so we could buy some. She told him the spider store so now he insist we head to the spider store to get our own.
6. Milk. Last night I called Rosehill to reduce our usually order by a 1/2 gallon because we have too much milk. Instead they added a 1/2 gallon. Now we really have too much milk. I guess we will have to make brownies to go with all of the milk.
7. Turning 30. On Tuesday I turned 30. I honestly don't feel any older but it is weird to think I am 30. I feel like I am so much younger then all of those 30 year olds I babysat for as a teenager. The thought that my babysitters look at me like I looked at the people I babysit for is depressing.
8. Gray hair. Speaking of age I have gray hair. I was blissfully ignorant of this until my little sister Anne so kindly pointed it out. I was always planing to go gray gracefully and never dye my hair but when I made that plan I thought I would be 40 when I started to go gray not 30.
Well I guess that is enough rambling for now. Probably more than you really cared to know about me but there you go.

Poor Valerie. Her first gray hair and she is not even old yet. This does not bode well for when you hit your 40's
Very glad for an update. Wow- I am hoping you get this potty training thing figured out just in time to help me out! I am also loving the dinner swap!
I am loving the dinner swap too. But I feel for you on the gray hair thing. I just found the first one and hoping there are no more in there. I am thinking of highlights to mask it all.
Wow your life sounds as busy as it should with three kids. I love reading your blog and I hope you are through with the potty training soon. Boys are so much harder to train than girls are, so maybe next time won't be so bad. Happy birthday.
Happy Birthday, Val! I need Allison to tell me it's your birthday so I can remember.
I am avoiding potty training. Nathan turns 3 tomorrow, and I have been in denial. I am hoping that the longer I stall, the better he'll be at it, and he'll just be so good he can do it in a day. (sometimes it's so much easier to be delusional...I'll let you know how it works out for me)
I started to think you were done with the blogging it had been so long. Happy late, late birthday.
I hate potty training! And as far as your hair goes I think you look fabulous! I change my hair color so often I don't think I'll be able to tell when the grey sets in, that's my plan anyways!
Hey Val! I love the pictures of your kids...SO CUTE! I added a link to you blog to mine, I hope that's okay. I'm new at this blog thing, it's pretty dang fun! See you soon...Love, Sara.
